Title: pedastal mounts for turkeys
Post by: fountain2 on May 02, 2013, 12:14:45 PM
im looking to have out merriams mounted in full strut and on a pedastal.  i was going to make my own out of old barn wood to save some $$, but the problem is that the old wood is too inconsistent in thickness and may not be as easy to woork with

anybody got any other ideas for pedastals?  show pics.

not sure what to do here

Try this for some ideas...not affiliated with them in any way.  Just saw them when I was looking to do the same thing.

Here is a pedestal I made for an upcoming mount (I hope).  I first made an inner structure out of new wood then attached the barnwood.  I chose to do an octagon and it wasn't too bad.  On a perfect piece the angles would be 22.5 degrees but on a few boards I had to adjust that to get them to fit right since the boards weren't perfect.  On the next one I do I am going to make a square pedestal.  On each side of the square I will use barnwood for the edges and do a tin insert.  Lots of ways to do this!
