Title: 11-87 20 gauge
Post by: remmy1187 on April 18, 2013, 07:07:03 PM
Got an 11-87 sporstman 20 gauge yesterday and shot it a little today, had some decent patterns but was not totally pleased so I shot one of my hevi-7 handloads.  This is at 40 yards with the twenty, I gotta say I am really excited with this one.  I have not polished the barrel yet and might not even worry about it.  I shot another one to see if this was a fluke and the second shot put up 218.

Are these H-13 #7 loads or Fed HW 37 loads? Out of the IC 555 I am assuming that they are the H-13 #7s.

Please clarify.

What is your recipe for the handloads? And what hulls and wads are you using?

I actually was after 12 g/cc or 15 g/cc and now I am positive that it was the 12 g/cc. Great pattern whatever and definitely all you need .

It is almost a duplicate to a nitro straight 7 load.  Velocity are about 1150-1175 fps.

26" barrel?  Did you clean the barrel or just shot it dirty?

Got the same gun with the 26" barrel and have had trouble getting it to shoot.  I bought some Nitro straight 7s to run through her.  Got a buddy letting me borrow an IC .555.  Not expecting to get those numbers but if I get 150 -175 I will be stoked.

20 gauges are really undervalued guns in my opinion....they are extremely
effective

Indian Creek .555 out of 26" barrel.  My load is 13/8 oz of Hevi 7's going about 1175 FPS

That is very nice. To fool with that combo would be silly. Better aim small at 20!
