most of my birds are 30 yds and in where I hunt mostly hardwoods, so I am going to stop spending the extra money on the htl loads and probably go back to the lead turkey thug 3" load 5 shot. Just wandering what chokes and sizes are you all having good numbers with, Im not looking for a super tight choke just a good hunting choke that will give me a good even pattern, still would like to have 100-110 in the 10" circle though, any thoughts???
Indian Creek .665 does good with #5 and #6 Lead. Thugs, and Win Sup HV.
There are other good chokes too. This is just what I'm using.
I dont shoot 5's but the chokes that performed best for me in the 870 with the thugs were the SSX, Jelly head .660 and the Ventilator. In the 835, stardot and pg .670.
my gun hates the Winchester hv just wont shoot them Ive tried a IC, 3 or 4 different types of kicks, comp n choke, ssx, just cant get the patterns with it.
Sumtoy .665 & turkey thugs #6 3.5in.
