Title: 20ga heavy shot choke and fed hw 7's
Post by: Cthornt3 on April 13, 2013, 09:08:45 PM
Still trying to find a choke that will shoot in my sps-t. Was wondering if anyone has tried this combo yet and what where the results. Hevi shot .573 and fed heavy weight 7's?

I've recently shot both the Haymaker and the actual Hevi-Shot choke and with my current shell choice nothing has out shot the Remington Super Full .570 and .572 chokes.

I shot that combo with my BPS 20 and I got 172...no need for me to experiment further

I gave up buying chokes for my Remington 1100 20ga.  Mine was converted by a smith to handle 3" shells, ported and forcing cone removed.  Mine is the older style RSF "lead only" and has consumed well over 150 Hevi-shot variant shells.  120's with Fed #6's, 150's with Fed 7's, 180's with Hevi 7's.  No problems.  The Federals seem to stone the birds a little harder than the Hevi-shot, IMO. I wish I could find the time & energy to load some TSS.  I think 8.5's would be perfect as #9 is banned for turkey in New York.
