If you could make the perfect turkey gun in your mind, what would it be? Lets just say you had no limit on price, for gun, shells, chokes, everything was paid for fully!
I might go with a SX3 3.5in 24 in barrel, Rhino choke and nitros 4x5x7's
what I have already - Rem 11-87 SM, Sureshot
Manufactured currently:
I really like the pair I have: Rem 870 youth 20 gauge and Mossy 935 Turkey, but for fun...
This is kinda sad - I can't think of anything I would change. You could hook me up with a lifetime supply of TSS 8's and 9's and Nitro Blends though. Also a couple of custom dips.
Out of Manufacture:
Savage Hammerless Single Shot 20 gauge
23" barrel
SumToy Choke
Fed HWT 7's or Nitro 6's
160 - 190 in the 10
FF3 on a 336 mount
All Custom Dipped in Mossy Oak Bottomland or Brush
Not Manufactured:
New Browning A-5 20 gauge with a 24" barrel. All the TSS 9's and components I needed and a choke that laid 285 in the 10 and 285 in the 20. Top it off with a FF3 on a 336 mount and a Quake Claw Sling.
I'd keep what I've got, a mossburg 835 ultra mag..

Would keep this ole girl. Bought her June of 2011 and she has been really good to me. 24" barrel with a Star Dot choke. Added a limbsaver and the Simmons Pro-Diamond. She has done everything I have asked her to do as long as I have done my part. Handloaded Heavier than lead 6s is what I would shoot in her.
I can think of only a select few people that I would allow to hunt with her.
Saturday she knocked down her 7th Tom/turkey:

Can't think of a gun I would rather have than what I've already got. I several different 12 & 20 ga turkey guns and find myself only wanting to tote one. It's an 870 youth 20 ga with a knoxx stock, cerakote mil spec OD green, 21" polished barrel, & sumtoy .562-5 choke. This gun has been a two year project and is finally where it needs to be. Here's a few pics of the transformation.
It would be what I already have. SBE 2 24" with a Rhino .670 choke, shooting Nitro 2 7/16 oz #7's. I also have a Docter sight on a Burris 336 mount. The trigger has also been worked.

SBII 24" barrel, steady grip (limbsavers pad), trijicon sight, shooting TSS through a collection of Sumtoys in various sizes.
Maybe a tricked 20 with TSS for the wife
I will second the sbe ii with the 24" and the steady grip
Auto? Super Vinci, hands down.
Pump? BPS All-Purpose in MOBUI.

Almost the same here except my 3" vinci and bps upland special. If we are talking fantasy i'd want a Holland and Holland s/s with a full set of barrels in 12-16-20-28, and a .450 nitro express set for general purpose hunting....with leather bound fitted case of course, lol!
I'm going with the super Vinci as well. Pistol grip stock, custom camo dip, eotech scope, rhino choke, nitro mega blends. Cha-Ching $$$$$$
I'd like an 8 gauge semi auto shooting about 3/1/2 oz of TSS 9s. Prob not gonna happen though.

If I could have that - just give me a 222. About the same effective range! :TooFunny: :TooFunny: :TooFunny:
Bps. 20ga. 26" barrel, maybe an I.C or P.G shootin' 3" fed 7s'. Maybe even a fancy red dot, ff III ;D
http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?fid=011B&cid=012&tid=267
SBE II, Balistic Specialties, Sumtoy, and Pure Gold chokes, a large supply of Win Xrange #6 and Fed hevyweight #7. and a set of Truglo mag gobble dot sights.
And a new Claw sling so I don't have to take mine off my 870.
I'll take my SBE2 only I'd dip it in either bottmland or natural gear. The kicks 655 does ok with winchester 3.5" hv 5's and 6's and it shoots great with hevi 3.5" 6's but I might try an indian creek or rhino in it.
Second option is to find a 21" barrel for my 11-87, screw in an Indian Creek 665 and have it dipped in the ol realtree extra brown or the newer AP green pattern. Shooting 3" win HV 5's and Hevi 3" 6's, depending on my mood that day :OGturkeyhead:
Couldnt replace My old 835
What Im shooting now.
Mossberg 835
Mueller MX-1 Red Dot
Jellyhead Choke
Nitro H517 4x5x7 Hevi-Shot
Havent even had to think about racking another shell in.
I will admit though Id like to try an Indian Creek choke versus what I have.
Ole Killer is a 935, but if any other auto had an overbored barrel and a tang safety that would be close enough. The camo could be a little less green, I guess. Perhaps an anti-gravity device hidden in the forearm to make it easier to hold up...
It's difficult to get one shotgun that can do many things very well, but I'd nominate my Winchester SX-3. It has a 28" barrel and is chambered for the 3-1/2" roman candle, so I have a wide choice of of factory shotshell choices everything from 7/8 all the way up to 2-1/4 ounces. Shooting a 3-1/2" turkey loads even in the soft shooting SX-3 is not something I would want to do all day, but it sure beats what I used to use!! The gun is a great trap, skeet and sporting clays gun, it has never had a malfunction, and is a great gun for waterfowl and upland game. In about 2 weeks I'll let you know how it does on turkeys, if I get lucky!
Probably my Winchester 1300. That gun has never failed me and with the two barrels that I have, I can use it for just about anything even home defense. It is going to feel weird this year when I hit the turkey woods with my Stoeger 3500. Maybe I will bring it out of retirement if I get a chance at a second bird after May 1st......
Winchester1300.Hasn't failed me yet
My 835 and Stardot choke.
I would just keep my current Super Vinci with Rhino turkey choke.
It's rugged, very lightweight, and has the cool Max4 camo. 8)
Have an old Browning BPS 3 1/2 with turkey choke I like pretty well too but it's very heavy compared to the Super Vinci.
The SBE2 Turkey Performance Gun, with an added Tactical cocking hammer, a FF3 instead of a FF2, a Kick-Ez pad installed on the pistol grip stock. A V-Pod on the front. Trigger reduced to 3lbs, and action polished (RR already had the forcing cone lengthened, ported barrel, and .655 RR choke). Kind of like the gun pictured....... ;) ;) ;)
Finally have my dream gun...

SBE2. Pretty much the gun I have, but would have the trigger worked and maybe a FF2 instead of the gobblestopper. I do like the setup I have tho, just a few minor improvements.
SBE2 for me without question
Browning 10 gauge that weighed 6 pounds, a lifetime supply of tss
SX3 Waterfowl MODB camo
It would be the gun I have now, SX3 with a IC.665, the only thing I wished I had was 20 more boxes of lot # 300325.
I am quite happy with my SP10 , but the looming problem with ammunition availability would cause me to alter my response to the question
assuming I as stuck on a desert island I could only have 1 turkey gun , with the facteor of ammo availability weighing in , I would choose a Remington 3.5 11-87 pistol grip , w/ rifle glo-dot sights for these reasons
1) Quality of item - 11-87 very reliable
2) Performance - 3.5 , very versatile .... many combos and shells available
3) Soft shooting - Gas operated - I know some guys like the SBE's etc... I like them too , but the 1187 is soft shooter
4) Parts Galore ... you can upgrade , change or tweak any Remington product - there is unlimited aftermarket parts /remchoke
5)Cost - these are steal you can get them for about half the price of a Euro autoloader --
835 + indian creek black diamond choke + rifled gobble dot sights + mag blends = DEADLY!! :z-winnersmiley:
835 and stardot hasn't let me down.

I changed my mind!
Give me one of the following two:
Browning Cynergy 20 gauge
Mossy Oak Shadowgrass Blades dipped
SumToy chokes in both barrels
Barrels shoot dead on at 40 yards
Slinging Hevi 6's out of the top barrel putting 140+ in the 10 at 40
Slinging Lead 7.5's out of the bottom barrel putting 100+ at 25
OR
CZ 202B
20 gauge
26" Barrels
Double Triggers
Same choke and load as above
I have the CZ, just gotta get on the chokes! I have Carlson's 575 and 585 for it now and it is good to a MAX of 40 with Hevi 6's or HWT 6's. I need to run some HWT 7's through it.
encore prohunter 12 gauge(http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y438/skippyturtle1/gun_zps91b02709.jpg) (http://s1274.photobucket.com/user/skippyturtle1/media/gun_zps91b02709.jpg.html)
Do far I am extremely happy with the 24" 12ga barrel for my TC Encore. Small, light and super simple to use for a turkey set up.

835 and stardot hasn't let me down.
X2 ! !!!!! I currently have an 835 w/ Kicks Gobblin Thunder , it "replaced " my dream gun that was my older 835 I had that got stolen a few years ago w/ tru glo sights and the original Preston Pittman Choke tube aka eventually became Stardot, it was absolutely a turkey killer!
I own several turkey specific shotguns and I like all of them but if forced to choose one it would be my Benelli Super Black Eagle. It's topped with an old Leupold/Gilmore red dot sight and a Kick's GT .655 choke tube. That combo has been lights out for a number of gobblers including my most recent, bagged last Saturday on the first day of the Pennsylvania season. ;D
I guess I would have to say my 835 2000 made model with a original Star Dot choke.
Best shooting shot gun I have seen with Hevi-13 3.5" #7's.
HoggleGobble please tell me you mounted that gobbler!?!
Modern............1187 20 guage;
True Blue yesterday.......Winchester pump 12 fixed full choke barrel 2 3/4 in chamber model 12
I would stick the my original xtrema that I have now.
I would keep what I have now.......my Mossberg 535 turkey/deer 12 ga. camo shotgun. Love this baby and it's brought down many a tom and buck......... :fud:
