Just wondering how well do these short barrels pattern. Been thinking about getting an 1187 with a 21 in. Barrel

My 11-87 shoots great with the 21" barrel....it has served me well for lots of years. I have never really done any pattern numbers with it but with a GT. 665 and Winchester #5's it is quite deadly.

lots of patterns have been posted.  they do really well.  I've built 6 so far for myself, family, and friends.  I've yet to see one not pattern, but I'm also shooting TSS handloads thru them.

I've seen anywhere from 400+ in a 10" circle at 40 yards down to 250ish in the 10".  Probably saw my best killing pattern this past Friday.  A buddy's gun I built show at 286 and 280 in the 10" and 20" circles at 40 yards respectively.  Nice even pattern.  I told him not to touch it to chase higher numbers in the 10 at 40yds.

I am running a 870 20 with a 21" barrel and a SumToy 562 choke. I have been hunting with Hevi 6's and average around 135 in the 10 with those.

For just flat out numbers, the Hevi 7's gave me a high of 175 and the Fed 7's I shot this weekend went 182. That is too tight for me in the 20 gauge. I want 130 - 145 numbers from a 20 with an even 15" pattern.
