Was digging around and found 3 boxes (10 packs) of the 1 1/4 oz size 6 turkey loads in the gunsafe. Think I bought these several years ago when I was duck hunting a lot. These however are the turkey loads. Anyone have any thoughts on how they would pattern?
Also, have 3 chokes to try. Sumtoy 562.5, Indian Creek .555 or the Carlson's .575
Any thoughts on what might work best. Gun is a Benelli Nova with 26" barrel. Thanks
My Benelli Nova likes the IC .555
indian creek .555 was the only choke that would shoot the remington hevishot out of my 20s. shot em pretty well though
I shot them years ago with IC .555 along with a Truglo SSX and a Gobblestopper. The IC shot them best but only got around 120 or so if I remember correctly.
I recently tested those very shells with several different chokes including the haymaker, ssx and rem superfull hevi approved choke. None of them produced anything exciting.
Tested them this morning in my Sumtoy and my IC. Neither lit my fire. I'd say circa 90 hits in a 10" circle. Would be a dead turkey for sure, but I'd certainly like to have had 110-120 hits to be on the safe side.
Those loads pattern very well through my 20ga Mossberg® Mdl 500C and a Wrights® SWARM™ .555" choke w/wad catchers.
