Title: Patterned my new 870 20 Express
Post by: BenW on April 01, 2013, 01:06:51 PM
Patterned my new 870 20 ga Express (26 in barrel) this weekend. Used 3 " Fed Heavyweight 7's.

Tried two different chokes - Indian Creek .555 ported - Carlson flush mount .575 turkey choke

The IC did better...170 pellets in the circle at 40 yds compared to 140 with the Carlson.

Still a few more weeks until it gets put into live action. They're starting to gobble in Iowa...cant wait! :turkey2:

Sounds like both of those patterns will get the job done.

I patterned my 26" 870 yesterday with some U lots and a 570 SumToy and a rem sf. The SumToy was in the high 160s and the rsf was mid 150s. Also shot the 562 SumToy with som P lots and got a high of 196 and averaged in the high 180s. Hope this helps some of the long barrel shooters.

I'll check when I get home. I don't think they are U or V.
