Title: Made my first box call...
Post by: M R Ducks on March 31, 2013, 04:27:05 PM
Made my first box call this weekend.  Nothing fancy, just something fron which to learn.

Works great left to right, nice and raspy - sounds like a hen.  Right to left not so much.  Kind of high and squeaky.  Could this be a grain issue on the side panel?  The proiles of the lid and sides are pretty symetrical.  I know the wood I was using liked being worked one way cross grain better than the other (when I was shaping the lid).

BTW - I jut used a piece of 1/4 inch hobby/project oak I bought at the home center.

I'm going to use it, and make some more.  Sounds as good as any I ever bought left to right.

Any ideas or advice appreciated.
