Title: New Grand Old Master?
Post by: Deputy 14 on March 25, 2013, 04:59:01 PM
Anyone tried the new Grand Old Master from Quaker Boy.  My uncle has one of the originals and it is a sweet call just wondering if the new ones were junk or a good replica.

For whatever it's worth, I don't know about this year's model but a friend of mine has one that's about five years old and it sounds good.

I'm interested to see what anyone with a new one has to say. I have an original that still has a place in my vest. I have a few custom boxes, but I've had times when the only thing that would work is that Grand Old Master.

Well I got mine today. Definatley not worth the $40 I spent on it. I knew better than to not buy a custom.

I have a friend who has a Grand Old Master that is an absolute turkey whisperer...I thought, o.k. I'll get one and the turkeys will come in in a trance...Let's just say that didn't work out for me...
The old Grand Masters were glued side boards. The new ones are carved out of a block of wood. The sounds are DRASTICALLY different! My new one went right to the shelf with all my junk calls that I don't know why I keep...Save your money!
