What 40 yard 10" numbers are y'all getting?
I just tried some out of my SBE2 with a jellyhead and got 173.
With my SBE2 24 inch I was getting 190's with a Rhino choke. With a PG choke I was getting same numbers as yours with a very even pattern. I happened to use the PG hunting because of the evenness.
Sounds like a great pattern! I see some Mag Blends in my future since xtended range has dissappeared!
My SBE2 was in the 170s and 180 with mag blends .
I got 210 with my NWTF Browning Gold, Indian Creek .665. I sure it'll do better with a clean barrel but haven't had a chance to try it.
248 with stoeger 3500 and hevi 656 choke.
Went and shot today and got 170s with the 3" shooting a jellyhead .655 out of my supernova.
Mid 190's on average with my 24" SBE 2 and Rhino (.660).
I got 175 out of a Browning Maxus with IC .665, but my 20" was 390, I am more concerned with 20" instead of the 10".
257 in the 10" at 40 out of a mossberg 535 and a tightwad choke. By far the best shell and choke combo iv found for the 535.
Actually I recounted a little. 184. Good enough for me.
220's with a 20" 835 and JH.
Excited to try them out on my 870 and JH .660.
Keep in mind the higher numbers are because theres more 7's in the shell than 5's or 6's. I had 3 different lot#'s and was getting any where from 150's 170's and 190's, so i cut 1 open from each lot number and sure enough the 190 shell had more 7's and the 150 shell had more 5's
Thats very interesting NYhunter. Makes ya wonder why we are so focused on numbers when there are so many variations with the shells. Seems we really should be caring about the evenness and adequate numbers to kill a turkey

BINGO!
I don't understand why the straight 6s get overlooked . I shot 6s,7s and MBs , overall I was more impressed with the 6s . They don't have the numbers of the 7s but it was a nice even peg board pattern that still was in the 220s at 40 with better ke. You can also argue the MBs are a little faster and have some 5 s in the mix but just how many 5s are in there . Even more so how 7s are in there and why don't they put up better or more constant numbers. I know every gun , choke and ammo combo are different but I watch others results on here and mine are similar . That's actually why I picked up the 6s to try .
I get 185-220 with 3" MB in my SV with a H-13 choke.
I like the way the faster MB performs in the field.
But, 3.5" H-13 #6's with the same choke & gun gives me 220-240 all day, so I might just go with the straight 6's over the MB, even though it's slower...
mudhen
I have 24 boxes of the 3" Mag Blends but still have yet to pattern them in my 3" guns. I like some of the numbers you all are getting with the 3". I chose the Mag Blends over the straight #7's because I liked the higher velocity.

The velocity is a slight benefit . It may give you a bit more ke . It would be more of a benefit with ducks and geese when shooting at a moving target with your leed . But hopefully a turkey is stationary when you shoot at it and speed isn't as critical .

I don't really view it that way. Velocity equals KE equals knock down power. The harder something gets hit, the more trauma is inflicted and the more devastation is inflicted by the projectile. Rifles or shotguns.
3.5 inch mag blends last year did 190's in the ten at 40 yds in my 870 SM with 23 inch barrel and .660 jelly head. The pattern wasn't as dense as with the straight 7's, but it was more even throughout. I got a .662 hevi choke to try this year as some are havin good luck with mag blend and regular hevi with it.
