Title: Birds have lockjaw!!
Post by: RussM311 on March 18, 2013, 04:02:15 PM
Have scouted in northwestern Louisiana every day for 3 weeks.... so far I have heard exactly 7 gobbles!! No two from the same bird, and all over by 15 min after fly down. I even followed a bachelor group (about 20 birds) for a couple of hours, and never heard a peep out of them. Our season opens this Saturday, and I just don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling. Anyone in this part of the world having the same issue? Or have I just gone deaf?

Not good ! I am heading to North La for opening week. I didnt hear any gobbles on any of my scouting trips here in south La. We heard a couple gobbles Saturday for the youth hunt but only 1 gobble from the roost. I have a bad feeling about the cold front that supposed to be coming in for the weekend.

I am afraid that the incoming front may just put a final nail in the coffin of our opening weekend.
