Title: A Late Starter
Post by: RickC on March 18, 2013, 01:22:12 PM
Howdy all, I am brand squeaky new to the hunt of these birds. I turn 57 tomorrow so I figure I have a few years to enjoy chasing them. We live in southeast oklahoma  and I'm married to a great gal who while she doesn't hunt doesn't give me any grief about my choice. She's a 6 year cancer survivor, Has MS, Myasthenia Gravis, and a host of others and is a model of what Faith is all about. Between us we have 3 kids, my son, daughter and her daughter. The last one graduating high school is year.
My interest in turkey hunting actually came from another hobby I have, decoys. A forum I am a member of has a member who has carved some turkey beauties and recently started another that got me really interested.
I became interested in making my own decoys after building a sneak boat. I wanted something else to keep my hands busy with and went with decoys last summer. I'm concentrating my efforts on an old style out of North Carolina and Virginia, wire and canvas.
Looking forward to learning and the hunt.
