When do the birds get settled into their spring routine well enough that you would go out and listen for them preseason on the roost? Some trailcam pictures have shown them strutting for hens for a few weeks now.
They are gobbling now...just before sunrise and perhaps up to about a half hour so after fly down.......not hot and heavy till April....(in Pa)
Struting and gobbling in North Florida.
3 more weeks till go time....
They are gobbling some here in South Alabama but are not real worked up just yet. Could be all the nasty weather we are having.
I was in S. Texas a couple weeks ago hog hunting and the birds were strutting and gobbling. Had one bunch of hens feeding and two gobblers were following them, strutting and gobbling. Had another bunch of twelve gobblers strutting like opening day. Weather was unusually warm, high in the 80's.
Heard alot of gobbling, however a cold front came through and probably shut them down.
They seem to start a little after new years down here.
maybe sometime the first part of April if it would ever quit snowing here in Arizona.
