If you pour it they will come. It works great in front of a camera to check in enventory. Dang sure not for hunting over.
Yeah I didnt even think of bugs lol
Your all wrong...it's McDonalds :TooFunny:
Bird seed
Well their least favorite is HTL. Give em a snoot full and they choke to death.
All the Turkeys I have shot have had a lot of corn in their crop so I would say corn
We find lots of bugs and grasshoppers in ours.Usually some leftover grains if they are still available.
Hevi Blend 3 1/2's!
Where are the chufa boys on this one?
We plant some chufa fields but I see way more birds in the wheat, oats and clover mix than i see in the chufas.
Thats easy. Whatever they can get down there throat. I've seen them eat little pieces of vinyl siding when there around my house after it was re-sided.
But mast crops, grasses and bugs would be there usual go to's.
Agri crop fields, peanut, corn, small grain...woods, acorns and green stuff and bugs mainly grasshoppers.
They'll eat just about anything that won't eat them !
Any weedy field should do, just about everything a wild turkey could dream of eating will be in it, bugs, a variety of flowers, seeds, green grasses, tubers, vines, forbs, and even crayfish on occasion.
Don't get me wrong, I, like most of you plant something for turkeys but maintaining a field or open area by cutting every so often will produce everything the wild turkey needs to thrive.
When it all comes down to it, it really dont matter what ya got planted during the season, cause he aint thinkin with his stomach. ;D

X2 :icon_thumright:
hevi shot They love it!
The most important food source in my opinion is a consistent and safe one. As folks have said, they'll eat anything. But they are nervous little buggers and very habitual.
When available they will go after insects first. If I could hunt over a regular supply of anything it would be grubs. Fresh plowed fields are one of their favorites - worms, insects, grubs. But seeds, grains, etc. are a close second.
I think the reason we 'know' they love corn is because it is often put out in the same place (for deer). They'll keep going back to where the food is as long as it is there - consistent and safe.
