Title: Howdy from Klein TX
Post by: justturnin on February 19, 2013, 10:46:02 PM
 :blob10:

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Chris Burgess from Klein TX just a shot north of Houston.  Being from where I am I don't get to take aim at the gobblers but I do likes me some venison.  What I do is make call blanks, I recognize some names here that have turned some of my blanks though you likely do not recognize me because you dealt with someone else that sells some of my blanks. I typically make trumpets out of live edge burl wood cast in a urethane resin or I make pot calls out of Cactus skeletons, Acorn Caps, Burl Bits, Sweetgum Balls and just about anything else I get a hankerin' to cast.  I have looked over the forum and y'all seem like a pretty down to earth bunch of guys so I look forward to getting to know y'all.  I will be posting some blanks in the near future once I fill the orders currently on hand.

I currently have some Box Elder, Buckeye, Cherry, Black Ash, and Oak all Burls live edge that I will be fixing up to cast soon into Trumpet call blanks.

I typically like to make my Cholla Cactus blanks to order so I need to find out how to do that here while staying w/in the classifieds rules.

So a quick rundown on me.  34 year old male. Lived in the Houston area all my life.  Married to my wife for 8 years but been together for 11.  I have three daughters (12,6,4) that are the light of my life.  I have a small shop in the backyard where I do my casting and turning.  I have a shopsmith with all the fixins, a Rikon 70-100 lathe and a Grizzly 9x19 metal lathe and a Delta 14" bandsaw with a riser along with an assortment of other tools but these are my main ones.  Inside, in the closet lives  a small assortment of firearms consisting of a Browning 12ga, Winchester .270, Ruger 10-22 (for the girls and plinkin), S&W .40 and a Matthews MQ1 Compund Bow.  Beyond that I am a Network Engineer to fund this.

Thanks for reading,
Chris
I love my God, my Wife, my Kids and my Guns and I cling to them tightly. :jesus-cross:

Hey Chris,
Welcome. I live in San Marcos, Texas. Can't wait until the 16th gets here so we can go chase those gobblers. Jim

I do my hunting in East TX.  The folks around there haven't seen a turkey in decades.
