Post by: gatrkyhntr70 on February 15, 2013, 12:17:30 PM
I have a 3" 870 with a 26" bbl. that Im considering shooting hevi 7s in. Anyone shooting the 3" hevi 7s in their Remington? What choke are you using and what kind of patterns are you getting? Thanks!

I do.  I like the MAD Super Max .675, Pure Gold .670.  I had a Indian Creek .669 that shot dang well, too.  Mine is a 28" barrel polished by myself.  Oh and Rem Ventilator .655 is a heck of a choke for this gun as well.   All are 40yds taped.

Here was the Indian Creek .669 pattern.

I do.
I've purchased several after market chokes, and still obtain the best pattern with the factory full (marked for steel or lead) choke.
My numbers aren't off the charts, maybe 220 in a ten inch circle at 40.  This was before deep cleaning the barrel.
