Title: Question on Hooks Calls
Post by: Indianayounggun on February 14, 2013, 08:12:11 PM
I am looking at buying a couple calls from hooks and was wondering what everyone was using from them. I also was wondering what kind of tension the put in their calls. I bought a couple woodhaven calls earlier this year and had a hard time getting over how much tension was in them. I personally think that a call with moderate tension makes it alot easier to get a large range of sound without using alot of air and with all the good things I have heard about hooks I am hoping they arent made with alot of tension. thanks for your input.

Get you an Executioner II and thank me later. It is extremely easy to run and is ALL turkey! It will produce a nice, clear front end and breaks over sharply. The Enforcer is also easy to run and is more raspy than the Executioner II. The 3 reed V is also a very good call.

Yep if your looking for an easy to run call i would be all over the ex 2.I am very hard on a mouth call and when they are fresh out of the package i can even Kee Kee on them and get the yelp I LIKE.That being said im a Devastator fan myself that Scott has tweaked alittle for me.

I love the Devastator, has that good raspy sound. Executioner last year I got was too high pitch for me. Might have just been me though. Also like the 3-reed V cut too. All good calls and was at my door in 2 days.

Hooks calls are not a tight as Woodhaven.  WH is harder to blow than some others.  Sound good, but harder to blow.
I love me some Hooks.  Try the Sassy Gal II if you like a double reed, I kind of prefer the SG three reed now.
The Executioner is a sweet one too.

I just ordered a four pack from Midwest supply  today . Cant wait to get them. Ive heard so much about how great these calls are . Four pack for twenty bucks was a deal too. I've seen em goin for over twelve bucks apiece . Ive been a fan of hs strut diaphragms for years and Ive experimented with just about every major brand out there. Ready to see formyself if these southern boys can win out over my favorite hs cuts ....

Another shout out for Hooks Calls. The Executioner2, Persuader, and the Sassy Gal in that order are my favorites. And I have over 80 different mouth calls. Scott is a first rate guy. I contacted him this past Sunday evening and asked him to make 5 calls a little different for me. Received an email at 0435am showing ready for shipment. Received them yesterday.  That's pretty great customer service..  JMO
