Title: First Post New To turkey Hunting
Post by: cajunhunter on February 14, 2013, 06:21:30 PM
Well, I have decided that after 6 years of owning our property in SW Mississippi I need to do something about these turkeys.  They seem to be good size flocks sometimes of 20-30 birds in our 4 ac field. We have messed around some and killed a few by luck deer hunting in the fall turkey season but I need to buckle down and take it to the next level.  I have a Benelli M2 that I have on order for several jobs and one of them is to help me kill my first Gobbler this year.  I am a rifle guy and don't have extensive knowledge of shotguns or loads or chokes but I have narrowed things down to that Hevi stuff and either Hevi choke or an Indian creek choke or maybe that Primo Jelly Choke.  I am looking to be on the forum to try and pick up some wisdom.  Thanks

:wagon:  you've come to the right place. From the sounds of what you are planning on using, it sounds to me you're on the right path. Lots of good and knowledgeable turkey hunters and call makers here.

My advice is to....RUN!   Run away fast!  You start hunting spring gobblers and you will catch "the disease" and then it is too late for you.  You will deteriorate into a wild-eyed, delerious, gobbler "zombie" and have no other goals in life than to chase them.  Let them into your head and they will eat your brain, my friend!
There is still time to save yourself!  Run away now!
...Other than that,....welcome to OG....
