Title: 24" or 26"
Post by: jbennett on February 10, 2013, 09:57:03 PM
If you had a choice between a 24" and a 26" barrel for a Browning Gold 10, which would you go with and why?

I prefer the 24. Easy to get around in the woods. If you choose the 26 when you put a extended choke in it, you will be close to 28. Just preference.

I am going with a 24 on a BPS when I buy it. I am currently shooting a friends with the 24" and wouldn't want anything longer than that.

My BPS 10 ga. "Stalker"  barrel is 24" and IMO the perfect length for turkey hunting.

If you're using optics, the 24 is great.  If you're using open sights, the longer barrel sight plane helps with aiming.  Minor differences in velocity and patterning should be too hard to find even if you look for them.
