Title: Kicks

Seems like I have read on here of folks using Kicks GT chokes with heavy shot. On their site they say lead only. Are they just covering their butts or what?

I shoot Hevi thru a .655 GT using 6's and 7's only. It is not recommended, but I choose to shoot it thru the choke and have had great patterns with both shot sizes. There are many chokes out there that are Hevi approved. If you have any second thoughts, get one of the approved chokes.

I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure you can shoot Win XRHD through a kicks, just not hevi.

You can also shoot Hevi Shot thru a Kicks choke.  Its been done for years with no negative results that I'm aware of.

The maker of Kicks chokes had told several members in here that Winchester extended range is ok to use through his chokes, myself included.  For whatever reason, he will steer you away from hevi.

The Kick's chokes are thick and heavy.  Very Robust in appearance to me.  Maybe there was an instance where a choke split in the early days of Hevishot, and that spooked the choke maker at Kick's?  Winchester XRHD is just as hard as Hevishot.
