Title: Buck Age
Post by: jblackburn on October 05, 2012, 09:24:28 PM
I had another buck show up recently.  In fact, I had him at 18 yards Wednesday morning and thought he was a 6 point, turns out he is actually a 7 without brow tines.

I think he is just an awesome 2.5 year old!  What do you all think?

Horn mass looks like 2.5 to me.

Not knowing the genetics or nutrition base of the area, it would be difficult to say for sure, but if I was to guess based on the photos, I would say he is likely 2.5.  In an area with good genetics and nutrition, he could be 1.5,...in a poor area, 3.5.  I doubt there is any way he is older than 3.5, but it is not totally out of the question.

Looks 2.5 to me, but if he's in Texas there's no telling. I see'em shoot "cull" bucks on those Texas ranches that don't look a bit over 1.5 years old, but they claim they're 7+ years old.

I'd guess 2.5 judging by body size.

I'll cast my vote for 2.5. He has a young deers body and mass. He could be a real stud in a few years if he makes it.
