Title: First miss! The good, the bad, and the ugly
Post by: renegade19 on October 01, 2012, 06:16:25 PM
 >:(  Illinois archery opener, my first turkey hunt with a bow.  Flock of jakes point blank..........MISS!

The good:
1.  Got 5 or 6 jake gobbles out of them.  Always cool, especially in the fall.
2.  Watched em be juvenile delinquents for a long time before they got in range.
3.  My calling gets better every time out.  Talked to another flock for a long time later on.
4.  Scouting paid off.
5.  I know where they roost and tomorrows another day.
6.  Blessed to be out there and enjoy the woods and fields.

The Bad:
1.   The shot!  Jeeminy, that was bad.
2.   Got soaked later in the morning.
3.   Lost my favorite knife pocket knife.
4.   Pouring rain now so they get a reprieve until tomorrow.

The Ugly:
1.   See #1 above.
2.   See #1 above.
3.   See #1 above.

I may be wrong but I believe that a turkey with a bow is the ultimate challenge. Kudos to you for even trying!
