Title: ink pens (non running)
Post by: SinGin on September 30, 2012, 08:36:58 PM
Hey guys, I was wondering what type of pens or markers you can use that wont run when you put a finish on them? I have tried a couple of walmart sharpies but no luck. Do I need to go to a craft store to get something special? Thanks Sam

If your ink is runninng, then give it more time to dry, over night or use a hair drier on it. Also make you  don't put a heavy coat of finish over it, real light finish and let dry. I just use a gel pen, but it will run on an oily wood unless I heat it up a little.

Go to hobby lobby or Michaels and get the pens with Archival Ink. I use a .003 with black or dark brown ink. they will not run and you can put your finish on almost immediately.

Micron #5 from Michael's or Hobby Lobby will get it done for you. You can also find them on ebay in a box of 20.
