I have searched all over this site for the thread that was started that had the preference of choke restriction on long vs. short barrels...can someone help me out....
Long barrel prefers a tighter constriction or more open?
Shorter barrel same thing??
Thanks gents....if someone can find that thread that would be great.
I talked To Chuck Boswell at Kicks chokes and he told me shorter barrels like tighter chokes in general.Longer barrels less tight. You can call him for a certain gun make,he is very good with choke questions.Shot size also makes a difference in choke constriction.

I can chime in on only my Rem 20 with 20" barrel. It in fact patterns better with a .555 on federal 7's and Nitro 7's. Watched another 20 with 26" prefer a .570 with same loads.
my 21" 870 will do good from.565 to .575
I've shot a .555 and .570 the .555 does a little better out of my 21 inch tube.
..570 for me in my Remmy 21" bbl, "Little Monster" :z-winnersmiley:
A lot of it has to do with the gun and what shell you shoot.
