Title: STOEGER 2000 ??
Post by: Limbstrutter on July 15, 2012, 01:56:49 PM
I was wondering how many of you have owned or use this gun ? I just picked one up for 250 in really good shape in camo . I haven't got to shoot it yet but for the price I couldn't pass it up .  28 inch barrel and all the chokes and a turkey tube .

When they first came out there were a lot of complaints about them not cycling.  I've got a first generation M2000 and have had zero problems with it.  Love it.

It may not cycle light loads.  The only loads that mine won't cycle are the cheap Winchester Super Speeds.

i have two of the second generation stoeger 2000. i love them both. I did have some cycling issues during the break in period, but none since. There is also a WEALTH of info on shotgun world forum, the Stoeger section. There is an old retired gun smith on there that can pretty much tell you anything you need to know if something goes wrong with them.

I have a pistol grip version that has been deadly on gobblers the last 4 years. I shoot an Indian Creek 665 with hevi 13 6s and winchester extended range 6s.

The turkey choke that comes with it throws a nice pattern out to 40 with winchester lead 4s if you cant afford another after market choke any time soon.

Not sure what generation it is but here's a pic . The one on the right is my SX3 and the stoeger on the left.

I have one with a pistol grip that I turkey hunt with. I love its light and I can carry it all day. Only bad thing is it kicks pretty good. But who cares when you are knocking out thunder chickens.

I had a first genreation M2000 in advantage timber camo. It made a great turkey gun but couldn't handle waterfowl season.

I have one pistol grip for the turkeys and one straight stock for ducks. We have found that it loves cheap steel but will hang up on higher dollar stuff like black clouds and hevi metals. Stick some Rios or experts and it will spit em out

i have a model 2000 that has a great pattern with a jellyhead and magblends. i use it for doves turkeys geese and ducks. it will hang up everyonce in a while with a light load but its rare. very good gun for the money. only problem i have is the bolt handle likes to come loose
