Does anybody know what that black paint the manufactures use on their waterproof box calls? I have a few box calls where the paint is all most worn off and they don't sound as good as when I bought them. I don't want to throw the box calls away and if I can just touch up the missing paint that would be great.

Check out Penn'sWoods.They used to sell a kit for waterproofing boxcalls.

I don't know what the waterproff paint is, but I can tell you that the striking surface on the paddle of one company's "waterproof" call is a coating of JB Weld.
