Title: Some for next year's lineup
Post by: lightsoutcalls on April 23, 2012, 09:43:19 AM
This year I did a limited edition mesquite call with green anodized surface.  The series was limited to 25 calls, which were turned as they were ordered.  These calls sold out several weeks before most seasons started.  With that kind of response, I am looking at doing multiple limited edition calls next year, in different surfaces.  Here are some pics of prototypes listed on ebay now...

Rosewood Ceramic - great natural sounds with a surprisingly medium to medium-high pitch - matching rosewood striker

Leopardwood copper - the looks are rivaled by the sound - the call comes with a cedar striker - it is listed with a redheart striker as well, but will likely use osage instead of redheart in the series

Kiaat bronzed beaded glass - I remember Larry Gresser using this wood for strikers years ago.  I bought some and turned a call out of it... Oh, my! The call comes with a kiaat striker and produces some incredible turkey sounds.  It is a medium to medium-high pitch with a bit more open sound and lots of volume.  The wood somehow reminds me in color and smell of cocobolo, but the density is way different. This wood has a density closer to African mahogany, which is fairly lightweight.  I have a feeling this wood is going to be a workhorse for glass calls.

Wendell,
How much for the lepardwood/copper call?  I've been thinking of adding a copper call to my pot call collection.

Thanks,
Ed

That one is on ebay at around $50.  I would charge $60 + shipping if ordered.  That comes with 2 strikers.  I have a feeling that next season the copper calls will go up due to the additional time in turning 2 strikers as opposed to just 1.
