Title: HELP
Post by: Limb Hanger on April 12, 2012, 02:01:15 PM
:help: Our season here in Ut starts this Saturday. I have permission to hunt some private land with my ten yr old boy. Up untill a week ago the toms were every where on this place. Now there all gone except some young jakes. I went up the canyon behind the house and saw alot of droppings in the road and feathers, but no birds. The sign just stopped on the road about half way up. My question is are they roosting lower and working up then stopping? If I set up and call to them not knowing where the roost is will they come to me? Thanks for any thoughts.

I hope some guys that have hunted out west sound off to help you out.  If they behave like easterns, when you call and they can hear you, there is a decent chance they'll come in especially if you are calling from one of their favorite hang outs.  Turkeys are curious creatures.

Just cause they don,t respond to your calling doesn't mean they are not Coming, Killed lots of birds that never called back.
