Title: B-Square Universal Cantilvever Rib Mount
Post by: Rimfire Wizard on April 06, 2012, 10:32:54 PM
Want to put a red-dot on my Remington 11-87.  Don't want to D&T the receiver.  Was looking at B-Square's Universal Rib Mount.  Anyone ever use one?  Do you like it?
Thanks.

For a softer shooting gun like the 11-87 it might work ok but on about any other gun, I'd be worried about all that torque ripping off my VR.  I'd look at the aluminum saddle mount before I'd go with the VR mount but that's just me.

I just picked one up for my new 20 ga 11-87, I will be testing it out in a few days and I'll let you know.  (seems very solid).  I'll be using a Burris fastfire  ii with it.  The mount only let's you mount the fastfire in the middle of the whole rail so the ff ii will sit on the vent rib not back over the receiver if that helps.  I may cut the part over the receiver off as I won't need it.

Happy hunting
Erik

That is a sweet looking rig! If recoil was going to be an issue, I would think it would be on that gun. What does it weigh?

That also looks like it's on a TWENTY GAUGE.  Not a ton of recoil there...  A 3" 2 ounce or a  3.5", 2.25 ounce turkey load is going to generate a whole bunch more recoil and barrel snap than a 20 gauge...  Nice looking rig btw!  :icon_thumright:

It's a 12ga H&R Topper Deluxe Classic. I shoot 3" Win XR 6's. With the synthetic stock & forearm, it was maybe 6lbs.

Never mind.  Didn't see the spent hull in the pic on my phone's little screen.  How many rounds do you have through it with that mount?  have you noticed any shift in poa or any wobble or loosening up of the VR?  I'm in the market for a Topper Deluxe 20 gauge in the near future and will need a way to mount a small red dot.

Between that one and it's sister, I have maybe 30 rounds thru them.  No issues.  Very solid rib.  The bottom one is my daughter's 20.
