Title: Will the cooler weather have an effect on the turkeys
Post by: Thomas6689 on April 05, 2012, 01:16:30 PM
I am going to take a boy hunting this weekend for Kentucky's youth season and the weather has cooled down some here.  i was wondering if or how this temperature drop will effect the turkeys.

If the weather is fair, shouldnt affect them too much. The worst are cold fronts that bring wind and rain. That shuts down the gobbling quick. Good luck!

I have to agree about the cold fronts and rain.  However, you have a chance to harvest a bird no matter what the weather, at least here is Wisconsin.  I took a 22 lb. eastern three years ago in the middle of a hail storm.  I don't know who took more damage, the bird or me.  Also, I have found that in regards to the mating period, I believe that the temperature doesn't play as much of a factor as the length of daylight.
