Title: Hevi 13 #7s
Post by: duckaholic25 on February 25, 2011, 09:15:28 AM
I just ordered some hevi #7s to shoot in my mossberg 835 3.5 in with a jelly head choke. What kind of  patterns can I expect out of it, and do I need to shoot a less restricted choke?

The 835 model jellyhead is .690 and it "should" be fine.  I would "guess" that you should easily be over the 200 mark in the 10" @ 40 yards with the Hevi 7's.  Let us know how it does.

If you want better, you will need to go tighter from .670 to .680 is what I would recommend.  I posted some patterns on here earlier this week under I'm going to the range thread.  Go take a look.

I have the same set up right now and have gotten a few other chokes to see whats going to pattern the best with these shells. from what everyone has told me I am gona get the best pattern with the .670-.680 chokes.

I use the JH choke in my 835's and use HS #6.  I get really good patterns with the setup.  Never counted the shot in a 10" circle.
