Trying to broaden my bag of tricks and I just can't seem to get this one down. I practice and practice but I just can't seem to get it to sound worth a crap. Do you growel in your throat? ? Roll your tongue? Flap your lips?? LOL !
Any tips from the experts??
I don't know if you've seen this yet or not. I put this clip together a few years ago. Maybe it will help.

I haven't seen that one before...thanks for the link...I thinkI just found my problem...to high a pitched call...I will try with a more raspy one and see how it works...thanks again! :icon_thumright:
ghillie in no way am I a pro but I have had the same problem. I can now do all three of the methodes you mentioned. I found alot of it is the type of call more than anything else. Technique comes with practice. Keep at it and don't get frustrated. :anim_25:
Try the TomBomb! It's a much easier call to purr on.

the key for me was to learn to purr without the call first...like making a locust noise while fluttering your tongue against the roof of your mouth while humming a high pitched falsetto note...it takes some practice, but I can purr without a call as good as I can without one....which may not be that good ;D
follow the advice that TRKYHTR has given. with a little practice he will have you purring like a pro :icon_thumright:

Indeed!
I sort of growl in my throat without using my vocal chords. Sort of a reverse snore. Flapping my lips doesn't sound so great.
I roll both my tongue and my lips and finish with a nice sweet cluck.

I just roll my tongue but also finish with a nice low cluck. Works REAL good.
