Title: How Close Before He Sees The Decoys
Post by: Rimfire Wizard on March 31, 2012, 08:00:51 PM
How close do you want the gobbler to be before he sees the decoys?  Do you want him to see them from a long way away?  Or not till he's practically on them?

If he cant see them until the last minute, there's no sense in putting them out.

When I first started turkey hunting, I was a big decoy believer.  I almost wouldnt set up without them.  I learned that in some situations they are a waste of time, and sometimes they can even hurt you.  Hunting mostly in the woods, I very seldom use them now, but I do still carry a hen and jake for field setups.
