Title: Traditional woods
Post by: gwa on March 28, 2012, 07:25:16 PM
What woods are considered "traditional" for box calls?

Are the woods different depending on the style of box call?

Thanks.

To me, "traditional wood" for boxes would be cedar, walnut, poplar, butternut or cherry

I agree with Lee but I'd also add Honduras Mahogany and Chestnut.

I have always heard of cedar and walnut when talking about traditional calls.

I would also add sassafras to the woods mentioned above.
