Okay, sort of....my dad keeps a few older shotguns around for grandkids, nephews, etc to hunt with, but he doesnt have a dedicated turkey gun. Well, sort of again. He has an old revelation pump 12 guage, 30 inch full choke. Made by mossberg in the 1970s, its a 500 with a difft name on it. My brother had an 835 with one of the first tactical pistol grips, hated the stock, and swapped it out a few yrs back so it sports the tac stock and they gave it a camo tape job. No threads, no choke interchangeability, no sights, i decided to give it a makeover, and create a perfectly decent turkey gun for whoever need one in a pinch.
I volunteered my old mossberg 500 that was my old turkey hun, relinquished to home defense gun. The barrels swapped right out, so now it is sporting a 28" barrel and mossberg threads. Next i polished the barrel as recommended on this site. Then i installed an undertaker .662 choke, mounted a red dot sight, sling swivel studs, camo sling, and next i will redo the camouflage and pattern and sight it in. Should make a perfectly decent 3" turkey gun for the younger boys in the family, or anyone for that matter. :) I'll post some pics when it's all finished. I have to hustle. Youth hunt is april 21st!
Sounds good! I just made my 870 exspress into a dedicated turkey gun. I put a shurshot stock on it a 24'' barrel and a jellyhead choke tube.was gonna paint it but I chickened out on that for now
