Title: Tristar Viper G2
Post by: Improvinghunter101 on March 25, 2012, 10:00:16 PM
Has anybody ever shot one of these?  I bought one after my ejector on the 870 busted a couple weeks ago.  There were some other problems I had with my 870 but that was from putting it through things I probably shouldn't have.  But that's a different story.  Anyways, my brother suggested it because he bought his and it was fairly cheap but seems like a well built gun but his wa a TSA 3 1/2 inch model.  I bought my fiance a Viper G2 and it seemed to shoot really well and seemed like a stand up gun.  But I bought one and put a primos tight wad choke in it and it shoots really well with the Remington Nitro 3" 4's.  Just wonderin if anybody else has owned one a little longer than 2 weeks?  haha

I have had one for over a year.

As far as the actual gun goes, never had an issue -bshort of the break in period.  It didn't like cycling light target loads for a short time, but other than that it has been a great gun.  Actually thinking about buying a TSA.

I am running a PG 670 and mag blends and/or 6s and I am getting over 200 with it.

Ya I have barely been through the break in period.  For the break in period I went through a box of the heaviest waterfowl load I could find which was some Kent 3" 1 3/8 2's.  I went through the whole box and then switched it over to some light 2 3/4 1 7's.  Everything cycled great.  I haven't ran into any problems with it yet but I have heard about them having a problem cycling some lighter loads.  My brother loves his TSA, but I never shoot 3 1/2" shells and I didn't want to spend the extra $150.  haha.  But if it were not for the whole money issue I probably woulda went with it anyways.  I've ran out of shells before and the only thing that's been left was the 3 1/2" shells my brother uses.  It sucks just sitting there when your duck hunting.  haha
