Here is a scenario that I've run into before I need some advice on. I hunt with kids frequently and take a blind and decoys. When hunting a large rolling field, what would you look for when setting up? Side of hill? top for visibility? large low spot? I've seen birds there but won't really have time to scout it before the season comes in for the boys. Wish I did but it probably won't happen.
Most of my land is fields. If I'm going to be set up in a blind I like to be set up where I can see a long ways. This isn't only for my benefit but also if I'm using decoys which I would be if in a field it allows them to be seen from a distance also.
Now if I know birds are roosting somewhere and where they're likely to come out I will set up just over a rise and by the time the come in to investigate calling...boom. It's over.
Just my thoughts but I like to be set up where I can see a long ways on a rise if possible.
