Title: 12 ga turkey load opinions
Post by: BP1992 on March 08, 2012, 04:05:19 PM
Anyone shoot the 4 shot Winchester Supreme 3 inch shells in their 12 gauge???  I am quite new to turkey hunting and I have a few boxes of these and was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on them.  Thanks

Put it on paper and see what results you get out of your gun with that load

It will kill them. The pattern will be thinner due to the larger shot size thus less number of shot available. If you try #7's H13 or #7's heavyweight, you should notice a denser pattern due to the increased number of shot in the #7 loads. Like Mossygoose said, "try it on paper".

Don't be afraid to shoot the 3" #6 shot in that shell.  You will get better patterns and still have plenty of killing energy to 40 yds.

I'll hunt with #4's in a minute, especially if there are alot of undergrowth
835 with a .710 flush barrel full choke tube using Winchester 3.5" 2-1/4oz #4's (the red XX shells)
