Title: third choke was the charm
Post by: mrclif on March 08, 2012, 10:12:58 AM
After selling my Win 1300 SS and buying a Benelli m2 with 21" barrel, thought had messed up. First choke I got a popular higher end .670 was getting 60 to 70 in a 10" at 40 with various loads. Next choke was another popular choke with a .660 it was getting 70 to 90 in 10" at 40 with the same loads. Got a Tru Glo SSX .643 yesterday and shot one win hv 1 3/4#5 through it at 40 and it ate that turkey target up, didnt count the numbers but poa and poi was perfect and a good evenly distributed pattern. I feel alot better about the season opening up here next Thursday.
Its weird that the cheapest choke I bought performed the best.  :z-winnersmiley:

I had the same issue with the 20ga i bought recently. It took me 5 chokes and 6 different shells, and it turns out i saved tue cheapest choke for last and a 10 dollar choke beat out 40-75 dollar chokes.

Lead loads tend to like tighter chokes from what I've experienced.

some my various loads included HS,HW, and Nitro nitros.
It wasn't just lead with mine.

I think the M2 is a standard .723 barrel as well, stands that it would want a tighter choke.  Shoot the Hevi and see what your numbers are.

I think it might have been because of the restriction. I had PM'd William from SumToy because I was having issues as well and he said that the Benelli's were finicky. Below is his message.

I have had good luck with our 650. That guns got a small back bore and want small chokes.  It also build chamber pressure so you need good set of brakes to slow the wad down.

If I can be of any help let me know
Thanks.  William.
