Shot two great patterns out of my old 870 Express Mag with 3 inch chamber and 28 inch barrel. Had great 70 degree weather and little to no wind. I tried a .660 Tightwad I had laying around and an old Truglo .670 gobble stopper I think it was called. Shots were at a taped 40 yds sitting and shooting off the knee. Ammo used was Winchester HV 3 inch #5's.
Tightwad .660 - 124 hits
Truglo .665 - 136 hits
Pretty dang good numbers with lead 5's I believe.....thoughts?
Patterns will be posted soon in pattern pic forum under "870 Express Magnum, 3" Winchester HV #5's."
Nice patterens
I would hunt with them and not think twice about it
My 870 will not match those numbers with that shell, using any of the many chokes I've tried.
However, my BPS will. Using an Indian Creek .665 SS BDS, I got 131 at 40 Yards with 3" Win Sup HV #5 with temps in the low 60's..
That's some darn fine patterns for a lead #5. Toms out to 45yds would be in big trouble with that set up.
