Title: Two new calls
Post by: gobblerhunter on February 29, 2012, 12:00:02 AM
Here are two new calls I am working on.  One is from a piece of wood that I found, have no idea what the wood is.  The other is a piece of coffee wood from Kentucky. The burl is one of the most intriguing pieces of wood I have ever seen.  Its a hardwood but that is about I can tell.  Probably will put ceramic as the striker surface and glass as the soundboard in both calls.

What do you think the burl is?

I would love to have some feedback on what you think.

Thanks for looking and may God bless you.

Bill

Thanks for your replies.  I would lean toward cherry burl, but I am not sure.  I know I sure like the way it looks.  I probably will make it a ceramic over glass.  The ceramic striker surface looks good with it.  I have made several coffee wood pots with ceramic over glass and they sound great.  I plan on using one in a couple weeks when Texas spring season opens.

Thanks again for you replies.

I was thinking cherry myself. It's gonna end up a nice looking call.
