I shot recently and was surprised to see the numbers from my 835, 935, and two win. 1300. I shot hvy 13 3" 2 oz 6's and 7's and 31/2" 21/4 oz 6's and 7's as well as mag blend in 31/2". The distance was tape measured 40 yards. It was 70 degrees and a little windy with about 70% humidity.
1300 28" barrel 7's tightwad 192 hits jellyhead 136 hits
1300 22" barrel 7's tightwad 175 hits
935 26" barrel 7's tightwad 202 hits jellyhead 190 hits
935 26" barrel mag blends tightwad 238 hits jellyhead 189 hits
mad max 195 hits
835 24" barrel 6's tightwad 196 hits jellyhead 194
not pleased with the numbers overall but thought the mag blend in the 935 and the 7's in the 1300 were not bad. The tightwad and the jellyhead in the 1300 was .660 and .690 for the 835. .695 for the mad max. What surprised me was that the tightwad had more hits with every gun and every shell than the jellyhead.
i am VERY pleased with the tightwad in my 835 :z-guntootsmiley:

and very much appreciated :you_rock: :thanks:
I've never been impressed by the jellyhead choke. I've never gotten a good pattern in 4 guns i've tried them in. dont get me wrong i've gotten okay patterns but never a good. IMO I think that the people who recommend them are the ones who have only tried that one choke..... tightwad seems to be the winner but i would still give other chokes a try. you should be getting much better numbers with the #7's in those guns

Your very much welcome buddy! I enjoyed talking with you on the phone last night. Seeing you get excited over how it shot the Hevi-13 loads and letting you see just how the Hevi-13 loads can smoke lead was excitement enough for me to make it all worth wild. That's what it's all about. :you_rock:
john you're right it does depend on the combo and the shooters gun. was just saying the jellyhead combo, in 4 seperate guns, has never worked for me... neither did a pure gold in my 835 and it's suppose to be a great choke :( was kind of disapointed in that one
Jourdan you are right about the numbers with the 7's. I have an Indian Creek .675 on the way for the mossbergs and I'm thinking about trying some nitro 4x5x7. The ic will be the last new choke for this season. If I was hunting tomorrow I would use the 935,tightwad, and mag blend.
The Jelly Head .665 choke wasn't too impressive in my 870. Neither was the .665 Indian Creek. The .669 Indian Creek was a totally different ballgame though and shot very well. Actually the Rem Ventilator .655 shot better than both the Jelly Head .665 and the Indian Creek .665 in my 28" 870 barrel. But like slicky said, every gun may react different and others seem to get some very good patterns from these chokes.
Thanks for the info. I know different chokes pattern better in different guns. I just thought with three guns all with polished barrels and many different shells the jellyheads(.660 and .690) would outperform the tightwads. I had similar results last year with winchester xtended range 5's and 6's

i would look no farther than that combo right there, dead center turkey dinner with that setup
thanks knightrider i believe you are right. I'll shoot the ic when it gets here and maybe check out the ssx for fun.
I've had pretty good luck with the JH chokes in Rems and a Moss 835 I have 4 JHs(2 .660s and 2 .665s) for rem and one .690 for the 835. I've compared the TW in Rems to the JHs and the JHs were hands down the winner, but the TW was a good choke for the money. I also have a TW for the 835, but haven't compared it to the JH yet.

I get great results from the JH choke, HS 3.5 2.75 #6, in both 835's. I tried the TightWad and didn't get as good of patterns. It is amazing how each gun, even the same make and model, is different.
