Hey guys I'm sure this topic has been beat to death but I'm new to turkey hunting so I'm going to ask again. I Just purchased a Mossy 835 and all it has on it is the factory beads. I'm interested in the Mueller Quick Shot and the Truglo Magnum Gobble Dots. I am open to suggestions. I love the idea of having a red dot on my gun but I'm worried about knocking it loose/breaking it ... Also I think I'm leaning more towards the fiber optic style sights, the Truglo xtreme and pro series seem more sturdy and consistent since they screw mount to the rail rather than use a magnet. Any one have any other input/suggestions?
I prefer the red dot for whole Target visability. Fiber optics take too much of the Target for me.
I am pretty sure the b-square saddle mounts are see through. You could have the best of both worlds.

A Bushnell Trophy red dot or a Mueller Quick shot are good options that can handle the pounding of magnum turkey loads.
I don't care for the open sights. I agree with the other poster. The open sights cover too much of the target. I know alot of guys have had success with the gobble dots, they are just not for me.
Go with optics

Hmm I WAS leaning toward open sights now maybe I'll shell out the $ for the mueller

I see you are fairly new here. most of the posters here are way beyond average in equipment "requirements." I also like the red dot sights (burris fastfire).
We spend way more than needed for better gear because we enjoy this hobby so much. If that sounds like you get a red dot and avoid a tube sight.

Quite right. I picked up archery last year and am completely addicted. I've heard people say "If you like bow hunting, just wait until you try turkey hunting!" so spending more than "required" sounds right up my alley lol. Unfortunately I'm on a semi short budget. That's why I'm trying to weigh out the cost. If a red dot is something I will eventually want, why spend the money for the barrel sights now and the red dot later. I might be better off to fork out the cash now and save money in the long haul.
I too just started pimping my gun and went with the Remington version of the B square for my 11-87 and went with a $49 Centerpoint from Walmart that I had laying around. I haven't finished sighting it yet but so far the Centerpoint has held stable through the semi sighting in process. Also you can definately see under the mount.
You are right bow hunting is good.But there is just something great about spring gobbler season. :turkey2:
