Title: Nova shooters
Post by: NYbassman on February 19, 2011, 08:25:48 PM
What are all of you benelli Nova shooters shooting? Choke and load. I am looking to set up a nova and was just looking to get some ideas on where to start. I have had good luck with jellyheads in the past, but I see they only make a .655 for the nova threads, and I don't know if I want to go any tighter. Looking for a decent pattern at 40, that isn't the size of a golf ball at 15 yards. If that is even possible.

Would appreciate some advice from anybody shooting one.

thank you,

My friend has a Nova with that .655 JH and it shoots great at 40, deadly at 60... very similiar patterns to my 870 with a .660 JH

Last season I shot the Nova with a Pure Gold .670 choke and the 3 1/2" Mag Blends and was averaging about 230-240 in a 10" circle at 40 yds.

Very even and consistent patterns.

I have a IC .665 in mine presently.  If it wasn't for the fact that this gun is now my backup gun, I would really like to try a Pure Gold .670 in it.  Maybe one of these days I will explore that possibility.

My nova is my back up/loaner it has PG .670 Has killed everything I've shot at. It has a 26" barrel. I dont really like any of the patterns it throws and I have tried different chokes. "Bird" can tell you of its patterns. But it still drops the birds.

Yeap.... For some reason that 26" barrel just won't get the patterns of the 24" barrel gun.

Huh, that's interesting info on the 26" barrel.  I have a 24" and it's shoots exceptional, 200+ with a dirty barrel, heavy 13, 2.25, 6's. with a I/C choke.
