Title: Competitive Shooting
Post by: anthonyjhallen on January 07, 2012, 11:00:35 PM
Its taken me over a year to get all the stuff I need to start shooting competitively and next weekend will be my first match.  Its a 2 gun (Precision Rifle/Carbine) 8 stage event with targets ranging from 3ft to 600yds.

Here is what I am shooting.
Remmington .308 Police, 6-24x 54mm Niko Sterling glass, and X-mark 2# trigger
Stag 3G, 5.56, Gissele Single stage 3# trigger, Leupold VX-R 1.25-4 20mm

I hope with 11 years of military training and my "killer" instincts I can do well.  My goal is to place in the top 5, so we shall see.

Wish me luck......

Nice looking rigs!!

You'll do well.

Just have fun, and focus on being smooth, rather than fast.

God Bless,

Trust your weapon and go in with the attitude that nobody else is near as good as you. If you hear more experienced competitors talking LISTEN. 90 to 95 percent of shooting is mental. If you don't think you can you won't. Good luck and have fun.

Getting ready to head out and confirm zero.  35 mph gusts will make that interesting.   :toothy12:

168g SMK

Placed 7th out of 31 today.  So not a terrible showing.  I smoked a couple carbine staged coming in first or second.  Found out that the turrets on my long gun will strip out if not pulled all the way up....So I had to fire carbine on the last few precision stages.  Overall it was a hoot.   Had alot of fun and didnt put my eye out.   :icon_thumright:
