Title: Indiancreek BDS
Post by: teke on December 31, 2011, 04:20:50 PM
Okay, just had to try one. Got one at Midway USA for my SX3 Waterfowl 28" barrel. Midways is a .660 cons. Hope it lives up to everything I read about Indiancreek chokes. Anyone suggest a shotshell for this tube? I was thinking Hevi-shot #6 3 1/2  2.25 oz..

Hevi 3-1/2" 2.25 #6 is certainly a good place to start.     Do some pattern testing and you might find the Hevi 3-2-6 version might pattern equally well, or even better.

Shotguns are picky, and more shot isn't always better.     I use an IC BDS .660" in a Mossberg 535 with a 20" tube.      With Hevi 3-2-7 shot, it's putting 240 pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards.

My search for a choke/ load combo is over... I finally have a solid 40 yard Turkey killer.

Hevi13 3.5" 2.25oz #7s, #6s, or the magnum blends will pattern great out of that tube.

I get great patterns with Hevi-13 3" 2oz. #6's out of my Benelli Nova and Indian Creek choke. I have yet to try the Mag Blends out, but haven't had much reason to change.

I used to get awesome patterns from my IC .660 with Hevi 3-2-6 until I got a couple boxes last year that were much different than the previous year. Evidently they made some kind of change with the shot cup, wad, powder or buffer as my patterns decreased by an average of 10%. I now shoot something completely different and am very impressed with this shell and choke combo.
