If I could only have one it would be slate but,of course, there are some other awesome surfaces out there.

Can't argue against slate, but I picked aluminum. Loud enough to locate birds and sweet enough to bring them in. :you_rock:

Ceramic. Aluminum a close second. Slate just gets too wet on those early mornings..

I had to go with slate. I just like the sound best over all the others.

I went with the aluminum.  I really like the anodized alum. from lights out.  They just have a certain tone that my slates just don't have.

After years of liking slate and crystal I have become partial to a good aluminum and copper call!!

I have an aluminum call that cant NOT make a turkey sound.

I like them all. I think all of them have their advantages/disadvantages over others. I find it interesting that slate has the most votes, but is the least surface you see talked about. As a callmaker, I don't like it and think ceramic will take the place of it when I run out of what I currently have.

I agree.  I voted copper but have to say that crystal over glass or ceramic are awesome surfaces too.  I could never go in the woods without a variety.

Im suprised about the slate also, I vote for crystal all the way.  I am getting a custom aluminum call soon though, just can't figure wich one yet.
