Title: Different color wing feather on Eastern
Post by: Turkeykiller12 on December 12, 2011, 07:33:00 PM
Mr. Williams, Got two questions for you 1:I killed a bird here in GA back in 2008 that had a few odd colored wing feathers. These feather were almost solid black almost had a purplish tint and looked like what might resemble the wing feather from a buzzard. Not all of the wing feathers were like this just a couple on one side, the rest were normal. 2: Every once in a while on this same property i'll kill a bird with a neat looking tail fan. What you might would consider the most middle feather in the tail when it's fully fanned out will have the black and white stripe look of what a normal wing feather would look like. Thanks in advance for any explanation that can be offered.

Canyonhunter,

I have explanation one for both the questions: They are part wild turkey's variation.
