With a 1000 dollar budget, which 20 gauge semi auto would you buy? I've dug into the Retays and Mossberg and have read a fair amount on those. I'm looking for light weight and no more than. 24" barrel. Drilled and tapped is a plus.
Thank you all.

Franchi affinity 3 is everything you want but a 26 inch barrel.

Stoeger M3020 with a 22" barrel is legit. Patterns like a mad man with an IC .652 choke. Extremely lightweight as well and drilled and tapped. Plus you have $350 over for a choke and TSS.
I found the retay gordion on sale a few years ago for $749 and snatched it up. Not drilled and tapped but comes with a rail that I've had no issues with yet. I equipped it with an IC choke and holosun 501c on it. It shoots great. I would recommend it

I posted about an SA20 deal here yesterday, 499.99. 22 inch barrel and a good choke.
Hard pressed to find a better gun for the price, gun only for a grand keeps you from a Benelli.
You can grab that SA. a dot, sling, better dot base and some ammo easy for a grand.

Super X4
Beretta A300
Winchester SX4. I have a few of them and never the slightest problem.
Winchester SX4 turkey
X however many on Beretta A300 Ultimate Turkey. My favorite gun. I was able to find a Country DNA model for $699. Like Dtrkyman said, that deal on the SA-20 would be hard to pass up.
I have a Retay, 20g Turkey model with the steady grip stock.
It is drilled and tapped with a rail.
It is a nice gun, light, solid, easy to carry. No noise while carrying.
My son has a M2 with a 26" barrel, the Retay has a 22" barrel. BUT, the way the guns are made the gun lengths are only two inches in difference. The difference is not in the stock.
The Retay shoots the same as the M2 on paper. Currently shooting 8X9 Nitro TSS through both. The Retay has an IC .555 in it, with a FF3 on it. With sling, it's 1350-1400$.
I believe weatherby just dropped there element 2 in a turkey edition for about 800
Another vote for the Stoger M2030 turkey.. bass pro had a great price on the gun and comes with a Burris FF3. At $749 its well under your $1000 price
I think I'm times-4 with responses for the Winchester SX and have had 0 issues with 1,000s of every kind of round down the SX3 barrel!!
I would buy a Beretta A300 turkey. I'm looking at the waterfowl version myself.
Personally anything over 6lbs is a no go for me, close to 5lbs as possible in that price range!

This is what I have been using. I think it checks all your boxes. Like already mentioned why go with anything above 6lbs. This comes in at 5.5lbs. Saving weight was my reason for switching to the 20ga. The Mossberg is a joy to carry and is a fine shooter.
